Daily Pivot Points

Pivot Points Indicator

The Pivot Points indicator shows the expected average price, support and resistance levels. The values are recalculated at the end of each trading day, using the DAILY price range, and do not change during the following trading day. This indicator does not work on small time intervals (Tick and 1 Minute), as there is usually not enough chart data to calculate it.

The Pivot Points indicator uses the following formulas:

PivotPoints = (HIGH + LOW + CLOSE) / 3
Res1 = 2 *
PivotPoints - LOW
Sup1 = 2 * PivotPoints - HIGH
Res2 = PivotPoints + HIGH - LOW
Sup2 = PivotPoints + LOW - HIGH
Res3 = HIGH + 2 * (PivotPoints - LOW)
Sup3 = LOW + 2 * (PivotPoints - HIGH)

This indicator can also be used for defining the exit points (stops and limits).

Dear, users!

Please, NOTE that the indicator should be added and compiled in INDICATOR editor (not the Strategy editor)

NeroKoso, you probably tried to open this script in the Strategy Editor instead of the Indicator Editor

Actually I do not receive any errors when using the new script.
As far as i know there is no way to directly refer to the time frame of the chart using the Indicator Editor. However, you can try something like this:

DecodeTime(SourceGraph.TimeValue(ValueIndex), Hour1, Min1, Sec, MSec);
DecodeTime(SourceGraph.TimeValue(ValueIndex-1), Hour2, Min2, Sec, MSec);
if (Hour1=Hour2) and (abs(Min1-Min2) < 15) then...

is there any way to query what time frame the chart is presently set to when using the indicator editor?  It seems that I get alot of errors when using the original pivot points on a smaller time frame like 5min chart plus it becomes a little too messy at that time frame so what I'd like to do in the indicator editor test the time frame, if it's 1hr or greater leave the pivots, if it's changed to less than 1 hr, hide the pivots..

Thanks!

The script for Pivot Points has been updated.
Now, when trying to use it on the Tick chart you will receive an info message instead of the exception.

For anyone interested I've created a Pivot Point Manual Indicator...

I found the pivot points to be somewhat off...  and since I like the pivots at http://www.mataf.net/en/tools/pivot-points I've rewritten that pivot indicator to accept manual pivot entries.

All you need to do is set the values for the pivots.  The default numbers are for today's GBPUSD pivots... just change them for your currency for whatever given date.  Beats putting horizontal lines on the charts and having color to differentiate between S&R Lines is great!

You can find the indicator here:  http://forum.actfx.com/Topic591-14-1.aspx

Hello, this is very difficult to do. You need to shift the calculation periods inside the script.

Hi,
I did not see much difference between this one and the one at the link you provided. Both are using the same formulas, and looks like both use daily values. What do you think the difference is?

Great indicator!

I have a question, when I look at today's UJ chart, your pivot points are way different from those that I find on the net, have a look at:

http://www.mataf.net/en/tools/pivot-points

Thanks in Advance!
