The Smoothed MACD is simply a MACD with an additional Signal line. The additional Signal line is an average of the regular MACD Signal line.

Often the MACD line is very erratic, moving sharply, up and down. This can make it difficult to determine when to Buy or Sell based on the MACD crossing the Signal line. This Indicator, while lagging a little bit more than the standard MACD, smoothes out many of the "kinks" that make the MACD hard to follow by comparing 2 Signal lines. There is an option to view the MACD line along with the two Signal lines - 3 lines in total.
